Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Michael Pershes has been in the fashion business for over 20 years, providing design assistance, trend research and more to companies like Todd Oldham and Paul Smith. Pershes is also the founder of Styleshoutout.com, a site he created as a way to stockpile style and art inspiration. Here, he fills us in on his favorite place to shop in Atwater Village.
"Individual Medley is one of my favorite stores. I live in Silver Lake and despite the assumptions about nobody walking in LA...I walk! I especially love Individual Medley because the owners, Justin and Monica Boyes, have created such a cool world that both welcomes and excites you from the moment you walk in the doors. There, you'll find a collection of urban modern pieces—from great weekend wear for men and women to eco-friendly kid's clothing, one-of-a-kind jewelry and unique finds for the home. I recently purchased a blue plaid shirt, a pendant necklace and pine smudge sticks but what I really want is the teepee! The space is open, modern and clean allowing you to decompress while you shop."
