At its very essence, In My Air is a chic, athletic wear-inspired brand designed with an LA girl in mind. It's a labor of love for friends Kyle Awtry and Israel Valencia, who launched the line in spring of last year. In addition to being worn by Parks and Recreation's Aubrey Plaza, New Girl's Hannah Simone, rapper Iggy Azalea and singer-songwriter Miranda Cosgrove, their work can be seen everywhere from Nylon to Fault Magazine, Interview Russia and Women's Health, and most recently in Bust's October/November issue. They also count Project Runway's Santino Rice as a personal mentor—in this candid video, he spells "fuchsia," one of their favorite colors.

It can be tough to keep up with their hard-working team. Over the past few months, they showed the line in the Workroom at Project Las Vegas and debuted a new online store. We caught up with designer Kyle after a whirlwind trip to New York to learn more about the concept behind In My Air.

What was the inspiration behind In My Air?
"We wanted to work with very structured fabrics and make them into skirts and jackets. We love the idea of using staple fitness fabrics and transforming them into everyday, all-day, all-night attire."

What is new in your SS13 collection?
"Nylon and leather skirts and jackets, easy-to-wear jerseys and dresses. We used a custom cotton jersey knitted on old looms in Los Angeles for some great layering pieces. The jerseys utilize the latest odor and anti-bacterial control technology, but they don't compromise on its moisture-wicking and quick-drying properties. Our favorite piece in the collection is the leather triangle bra."

"Fun, sporty, wellness, fashion, lifestyle."

"Tried and True Co. and Flight Club on Fairfax, Opening Ceremony and RTH on La Cienega."

"A very exciting new project which smells great if you ask us!"

Where does the In My Air girl hang in LA?
"Urth Caffe for her morning Spanish latte fix, then to Book Soup and Real Food Daily for some fresh juice before lunch. You'll find her at a yoga studio or Runyon Canyon and at Sage Organic Vegan Bistro in Echo Park for dinner before ending the night at a local bar for a drink."
