Last month we blogged about LA Fitness' takeover of struggling competitor Bally. To recap, the fitness chain paid $153 million for about half of Bally's stable of gyms. Today a Racked tipster writes that his local Bally in south Glendale has reopened as an LA Fitness, taking it as evidence that "the area, south of Colorado and adjacent to Atwater Village and Loz Feliz, is coming into its own." Though the takeover isn't a surprise given last month's news, it is a sign of LA Fitness' faith in the neighborhood as they do plan to close some underperforming Bally locations.
