Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Hair stylist Kristin Ess has been behind the red carpet hair of starlets like Lauren Conrad, Jessica Chastain and Whitney Port, ensuring that they look camera-ready at all times. At the core, though, she's a scenthound, and whenever she's in the market for a new fragrance, she hits up Scent Bar on Beverly Boulevard.
"I came home from Paris a while back and as I unpacked my suitcase, I noticed that one of the perfumes I'd purchased had broken and I searched everywhere to find a replacement. Luckily, I stumbled into Scent Bar on Beverly. They not only had the one I was looking for, but they also stock so many other fragrances that I often have to hunt down. The shop is owned by LuckyScent and it is maybe 500 square feet of olfactory obsessions including some of the newest, oldest, and really rare bottles of perfume. Simply said, this place is pure heaven."
