Blu Dot, A Bright Spot of Color on Melrose

The clean-lined minimalist modern look is great, but who has time to assemble their own furniture using instructions printed without words and an allen wrench? Now open on Melrose in the former Fornarina space is Blu Dot, a one-stop shop for everything you need to furnish your digs. The bright colors are enough to draw you in immediately, and the smooth silhouettes are easy on the eye. It's 3500 square feet of everything trendy you need to recreate that look from an Apartment Therapy home tour you've had bookmarked for two years, plus most of the pieces are small enough to fit into an LA apartment. Prices are definitely steeper than a big-box discount store, but still way better than other designer home stores on Melrose. (Translation: You won't feel like holding your breath lest you break something and have to give up your entire life's savings to replace a napkin ring.) In fact, you just might get lucky and snag a free chair (but don't count on it).
