Though the Karl Lagerfeld X Macy's collab does not go on sale officially until today, last night, the Fug Girls, Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan, presided over a swanky little pre-sale event at Macy's in the Beverly Center. Judging from the turnout, there are an awful lot of people who are not just curious, but enthusiastic about this latest celeb-retail mashup.

Heather and Jessica looked resplendent, each dressed in a different LBD from the collection. They were charming: as funny in person as they are on the pages (screens?) of Go Fug Yourself. And oh how we TRIED to get them to make some kind of disparaging remark about the oddball collection, but they were unflappable. They're consummate pros.

The collection boasts a lot of weird looks, but a few cute pieces. It's more inspired by, looks more like, Karl the man, as opposed to what he designs for Fendi or Chanel. Lots of austere cuts, prominent collars, and vests. And a pair of high waisted, cuffed, leather shorts that makes us think the Kaiser has some sort of ineffable fondness for lederhosen. (And we know how the Fug Girls feel about formal shorts.) Included in the "wearable" section were the black dresses, including one with a detachable collar; a pink, girly flowy number, and a jersey dress that buttoned up its gathered front. In the "Oh Honey No" column were items like a gray zippered dress that looks like a gas station uniform, a gray dress with a weird janky faux reptile section that lifts and separates the bust line, the aforementioned pleather shorts and their panted analog. So much pleather.
But don't take our word for it. Karl Lagerfeld for Macy's rolls out at malls all across America, starting today.
