A Not-So-Seismic but Welcome Hemline Shakeup

In what may be a somewhat ironic evolution of hemlines, Fall has brought a welcome (if slight) lift. Spring's nearly-impossible mid-calf length has been replaced with a more wearable, slimmer just-below-the-knee cut, perfect for those hankering for vintage, but not quite willing to embrace the Peggy Olsen get-up. Top picks for basic black include T by Alexander Wang's high waisted pencil skirt for $140 or the Gap's version for $49.95. Zara's got the evening option with their sequined studio skirt, dazzling at $89.90. And while Marni still does it best for you color and print enthusiasts, J.Crew has a great interpretation of the bold floral for $195.Your grandmother's nod of approval never felt so good.
