Unique LA Preview: When Bloggers Curate Shops

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Unique LA has emerged as an indie design incubator, a place to scope new talent and buy the stuff before it finds its way into spendy boutiques. But with more than 200 merchants signed up, you could spend both days this weekend seeing it all. Or you could cut to the chase and visit a tightly curated booth, like the one Jerri Howell of StyleSpotting.com is putting together. The girl's got fashion chops: besides her own blog, she contributes to Mondette, and this site, too. For her booth, she's rounded up some great local talent, including Rossmore, Kathryn Bentley, Lana My?and Thursday Friday, makers of those great canvas totes that have been getting a ton of press lately. Jerri predicts they'll sell out fast; email her and she'll put one aside for you. Look for Jerri at booth #124, right near the entrance. Unique LA is at the Barker Hangar this weekend, 11am to 6pm daily.
