Spinning for a Cause; Thread Indie Design Show

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

VENICE, COSTA MESA, SILVERLAKE—Here's some craziness for a good cause: The YAS-a-Thon is a three hour "spinning rally" with over 160 participants aiming to raise $150,0000 for ThinkCure, the cancer research fundraising arm of St. Jude's. The event is put on by YAS Fitness, naturally. You can get in on the action without breaking a sweat: there's going to be a silent auction, with prizes like two round-trip tickets on Jet Blue; four LA Dodgers tickets with reserved parking; a signed script from Sex and the City; Botox treatments from Dr. Linda Li of Dr. 90210; a gift basket from the Ellen DeGeneres show, packages from Dermalogica, Vince, and Vita Coco. The spin-a-thon is Sunday, but for more information on the auctions and getting involved, check www.firstgiving.com/yasforthinkcure [Racked Inbox]

DOWNTOWN—Get ready for another edition of Thread, the show that brings together indie fashion and design, music, art and more. We went to the last one, and it was seriously fun. Come discover new talent, monkey around in the photobooth, get your drink on, and enjoy a full day of fun. It's this Sunday, 11am to 6pm, 11th floor of the Cooper Building. RSVP for $5 admission here. [Racked Inbox]
