The thing that always shocks us about every Rebecca Minkoff sample sale is how many women there are who are LITERALLY carrying an armload of bags -- five or six, with multiple accessories, belts, wallets, etc. What are they doing with these bags? Even though $300 for a Morning After Bag is way more preferable to $600, three franklins ain't exactly "buy one in every color" cheap. Ladies, where do all these bags go?
But anyway. That's the scene currently at Confederacy, who are hosting a three-day-long Rebecca Minkoff sample sale. It's of thundering proportions, taking over the entire front part of the store. Yes, exceptionally well stocked. And yes, in the 15 minutes we were there, at least half a dozen shoppers who shlepped up to the register with a mountain of bags.
Since the sale is at Rebecca's hometown hang, they're doing the sale right: multiples of each bag in an array of colors and options, and exceptionally well organized. A different style bag on every table. A few of the deets: variations on the MAB for $300 - $327 (for quilted), variations on the Devote for $300, Beloveds for $217, cross-bodies starting around $175.
And if you're a true-blue Minkette, this will make you very happy: there are legitimate samples there -- an inventory of about four tables (possibly more). Some of these bags are rare, striking, cool?ok, a few are a little worse for wear, but there are great, unusual finds. Most of the decent-sized sample were in the $300 range, with a few exceptions. (That little chain-strapped shiny bronze bag with the matte black studs was $175, for example.) The sale runs through 7pm, 10am to 7pm on Saturday, and 11am to 5pm on Sunday.
