Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Whether or not you're actually in the market for undies, there's nothing like a little voyeurism window-shopping. Especially at these three lingerie boutiques in the Melrose/West Hollywood area. Single, married, or divorced, these window displays may inspire you to get in touch with your inner hoochie.
Trashy Lingerie is a constant source of LOLs: the window is filled with big-bosomed vixens in various states of undress, costume, and friskiness. This members-only store (relax, membership can be purchased on site for just a couple of bucks; designed to keep the rif-raff out -- and totally true story: having one once got us out of a traffic ticket!) sells as much costume merchandise as it does with lingerie. A favorite among a certain set of celebrities: we've seen everyone from Britney Spears to Glenn Danzig shopping there. 402 N. La Cienega Blvd.
Kiki de Montparnasse is arguably the most upscale of the three. Their window designs tend to be a bit more subtle, but still naughty. The focus is more on the beautiful lingerie, though sometimes there's some low-grade S&M play being hinted at. 8280 Melrose Ave.
Somewhere between the two (metaphysically, not geographically) is Agent Provocateur. The windows are always good for a laugh, usually providing some sort of loose narrative chock full of girl-on-girl action -- often times with someone getting spanked. 7961 Melrose Ave. · Agent Provocateur [Official Site]
