Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
If you're the kind of person who keeps up on trends, you probably already know that statement necklaces are all the rage for spring/summer 2011. So we won't waste our time yelling that at you. (Oh, wait.) But if you want to be the first kid on the block with a unique, California-made piece of statement jewelry, check out newcomer B. Rawlings. Started last year by Brittany Rawlings while she was studying for her law exams (what with all the free time that leaves and all), her jewelry has already won her Gen Art's Fresh Face of Fashion Accessory Designer in 2010 as well as acclaims by Allure, People and Latin American Vogue. Celebrities who have already been spotted in B. Rawlings include Lindsay Lohan (including her last Miami fashion shoot), Guilana Rancic (E !TV anchor), Tyra Banks, Tinsley Mortimer, Brandy and Mya.
Her chunky jewelry includes a wide variety of materials, including gold, turquoise, pink coral and citrine, amethysts, aquamarines, quartz, emeralds and more. Despite the higher-end materials, price points stay reasonable between $50 and $600. Currently you'll find it in soft launch at Bloomingdale's in Santa Monica, but look for it to spread across the city soon.
