Sjobeck Can Take You From the Farm to the Club

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Although the name sounds exotic and foreign, Sjobeck is a Malibu-born-and-influenced brand created by a four-person design team right here in the sands of the West Coast. Their spring/summer 2011 collection is described as a conversion between "cattle ranch casual" and "high society chic," created from flowing chiffon and cozy cashmere. The bright prints are on-trend for spring, while the relaxed silhouettes are decidedly LA. And there are rompers, which seem inescapable for spring, so you might as well give the look a try.
Available at Ron Herman and Fred Segal, the prices range from $138 to $334. And if you're feeling bold enough, ask for it by name. Maybe there's a bonus for pronouncing it correctly.
