We learned late yesterday that Confederacy is going men's only, effective at the end of the month. Ilaria Urbinati said the store was going to play to their strengths, and expand the menswear section; possibly bringing the Albert Hammond Jr. line back, among a host of other changes. After some boo-hoo-hooing at the prospect of losing the prettiest women's clothes in Los Feliz, we decided to hop down to the shop to inspect the sales goodies -- prices are supposed to be up to 60% off now through the end of the month.
We got another piece of news: they may be beefing up the selection for boys in the back area, but the main section in front will host an ongoing Rebecca Minkoff popup shop, with clothes, bags and shoes. The popup will be there on an indefinite basis, depending on overall response.
The really premium merchandise is still not at rock bottom (yet). We spied one of the Alexander Wang studded bucket bags in a tobacco color for $495, a dreamy Girl by Band of Outsiders dress for $524, the Phillip Lim pleated skirt/petal bodice dress for $612, a pair of wooden heel Loeffler Randall shoes, size 10 only for $110 -- and no lie, they had a T by Alexander Wang black full-length onesie for $74, and someone bought it while we were there. You snooze, you lose.
