Matthew Williamson's Acid House

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Since it's Friday and it's already been a long week, we're presenting you with low-impact reading material: i.e. pretty pictures! Behold, Matthew Williamson's swanky, transcendentally trippy pad. Williamson says he approaches each room "like a theater set." And for him, art imitates art: "Invariably, where I live starts to look like the season I'm putting together. I'll be holding up fabric for my line and thinking that it would make a fabulous curtain. With the peacock motif, the gowns came first. Then I decided there had to be bed linens too."

And if you're totally loving those wild pink and purple linens, you can actually own them: he's done a full line of housewares for UK department store Debenhams. And don't forget, his own collection for Macy's debuts in less than two weeks.
