So so so sad: word came this morning that Elizabeth Taylor passed away. The 79-year-old beauty succumbed to congestive heart failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Although in these later years, she was probably more well known for being a confidante to Michael Jackson, a serial marry-ier, and the inspiration for some really florid perfume, she helped to pioneer the whole "actress as glamorous ingénue" thing, and she was a high profile activist and fundraiser for AIDS charities.
