Dreamy Gowns Make Ina Soltani One to Watch

We heard good, good things about both the new Style Fashion Week LA and designer Ina Soltani. The Sarajevo-born designer is based in LA, and she showed her new collection at Vibiana on Friday night. The venue is supposedly grand enough to be worthy of a world-class fashion show, but there were a few hiccups with the presentation, causing it to start an hour late. (Yes, we know, par for the course.) Most of the gowns are delectable and amazing, though a few veer too close to "what if you let a gaggle of five-year-old girls design a prom dress" territory: tulle, ruching, feather and ruffle overload. One website called out the poor fit of a few gowns, saying in a couple cases, there was errant buttcheek flapping in the wind, thanks to too-short hems. But we'll give her a pass, considering she's bringing some much-needed drama and higher-end appeal. From what we can tell, the show was an LAFW highpoint that we're sorry we had to miss.
