While we don't really know what this will mean for the world of Ladymags, yesterday Hearst bought US Elle Magazine (as well as the classy classy Road and Track Magazine) from Lagadere for $885.6 million at current exchange rates, in cash. The deal makes Hearst the second biggest name in publishing now. Just, um, guys: leave Elle mostly alone, kay? Of all the lady mags it's been the first to upgrade the look and layout of its pages, making it our current favorite of the fashion behemoths. [WWD]
