Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Dallas, Texas native Lauren Stillman is the owner and principal of LSPR, a boutique PR firm and showroom in LA that specializes in fashion and accessories. She's been in the business for over a decade, and currently works with brands like LOFT and Lauren Merkin and emerging lines such as The Hellers, Gomez-Gracia and Contrarian New York. She's addicted to both Starbucks and outrageous footwear as well as New Stone Age, her go-to spot for finger puppets and terrariums.
"For something really obscure, I would say New Stone Age on Third Street is one of my favorites. They stock beautiful jewelry from under-the-radar designers mixed with succulents and terrariums (my favorite!), wooden entomology boxes that somehow manage to make bugs look beautiful, items for travelers, items for kids, items for crafters, items for people who like the antiquated art of hand-written notes.
Literally, if you can dream it, you can probably find it here. I'm always impressed by the way they manage to pull together such a wide range of items so beautifully. It is the kind of place where you can find gifts for every occasion...or no occasion at all. I once bought all my co-workers plastic finger puppet monsters here. I have since moved on from that office, but I would like to think that they all still have those little puppet monsters on their desks, reminding them of me."· LSPR [Official Site]
