Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Arielle Vavasseur and Marisa Spinella are the co-founders of Penelope and Coco, a high-end women's contemporary shoe company that prides itself on being born and bred in downtown LA. The line is based on the idea that we all dress according to two personalities: Everyone has a Penelope (a vintage, dainty and classic personality) and a Coco (a complicated spirit with eccentric and bold tendencies)—or so Arielle and Marisa seem to think. Their favorite store? West Hollywood's Soolip, a one stop shop for all your paper and monogrammed needs.
"After racking our brains about where we shop for clothing, furniture, etc, we have decided that the store we both use the most is Soolip. We are obsessed. Owning our own company and being very hands on with every aspect of it, our stationary and the way our brand looks on paper is always very important to us. Whether it's customizing Thank You notes, changing the packaging of customer invoices or prepping materials for an event, Soolip is definitely our go-to shop. In its new location, Soolip is tucked away right off of Melrose and always has great options for us whether it's paper, envelopes, folders or stamps.
