We are completely guilty of expecting a trainwreck from fledgling sorta-celebrity designer Kat Von D, who's already pimping her own line of cosmetics at Sephora. And it's not! Unlike recent fashion forays by celebs like Kanye West or Lindsay Lohan, the designs look as if there is at least a basic understanding of the human body, or the very idea of "clothing" (sorry, Kanye). Some of the Love Letters pieces are downright demure, including one piece with cutouts and a very Vena Cava-inspired print. There are a few old-fashioned military jackets and blouses that one might wear to a Renaissance Faire, should one ever go to such a thing, but there are plenty of modern looks, too. We are kind of loving the gray, lace-print dress with the square neckline and sleeve details. The prices aren't bad either: leggings (at least they don't have build-in knee pads) start at $90, and the prices top out at $429, for a big, Edwardian redcoat.
