Oftentimes, fall trends in the rest of the country don't translate well for LA. Heavy sweaters and chunky knits are too much for those who regularly spend the holidays in sunny 50- to 60-degree weather. But Malibu-based Sjobeck understands our pain, designing loose cashmere sweaters and embracing the sheer trend for their fall/winter 2011 collection. Lightweight fabrics like silk and charmeuse make dresses and tops flirty without going overboard. (We're eyeballing the strapless print dress for New Year's Eve.) Knit sweaters are heavy enough to be worn in place of a jacket, and casual enough to look "effortless"—which, as we all know, actually requires a bit of effort to pull off.
Prices mostly fall between $150 to $350. You can find Sjobeck in Fred Segal Trend, Ron Herman and a slew of other stores around LA (check their website for a full list). And go on enjoying your fall and winter trends without having to cover them up with a heavy coat. Jealous, New York?
