UK Bans Dakota Fanning Ad

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Considered too steamy for its underage model, Dakota Fanning, a Marc Jacobs fragrance ad has been banned in the UK. The ad features 17-year-old Fanning in a short, flesh-colored dress with a big bottle of perfume (appropriately titled "Oh, Lola!") between her legs ? a pose which the British Advertising Standards Authority labeled "sexualizing a child." Marc Jacobs isn't the only one to be cracked down upon by the UK Authority; YSL's Opium perfume was nixed recently for a supposed promotion of drug use, and Axe body fragrance for over-sexualization ? though we wouldn't mind seeing less of that one.
