Clockwise from top left: J.Crew's Bond Street, J.W. Hulme's Legacy, See by Chloé's Carmen, and Alexander Wang's Devere.
For those of you prowling for a new handbag: we've been recently inspired this season's nouveau-saddlebag style. More structurally elegant than our tired hobos, but more practical than the envelope-sized bags also trending at the moment, the new saddlebag is proving to be a very appealing option for both storage and style. We love J.W. Hulme's traditionalist take: made in the USA and hand-buffed, it feels like it's worth double the price at $450. J.Crew offers a more contemporary incarnation with their new Bond Street style, which has both a handle and a shoulder strap, two compartments underneath its sleek flap, and a killer price-point at $265. See by Chloé's Carmen bag has got more spunk with its purple ostrich-effect leather, for $495. And if you want to go all the way, get your hands on Alexander Wang's rabbit-tail-adorned Devere bag, which Garance Doré recently named as her handbag love object of the moment. It clocks in at a humble $855. Need any more convincing? Just look around. This saddle style may just be the much-needed antidote for those seemingly inescapable Marc by Marc bags.
