Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Normally we'd advise against buying things out of the back of a trailer, but in this case, we're going to encourage it. Aether, the LA based sportswear company, has completely renovated an old Airstream—with the help of Thierry Gaugain—into a pop-up store, dubbed it the Aetherstream, and towed it to West Third. They're in a parking lot at the corner of La Jolla--and yes, you can go ahead and feel free to park in that lot when you visit. If the free parking hasn't already won you over at this point, the 'stream is stocked with all the fall goodies you need to get ready for winter activities: Plenty of outerwear, knitwear and supplies for skiing, snowboarding and well, anything else you do in cold weather. There's goods for men and women, plus a plush lounge area by a fireplace to put your feet up and pretend to drink hot chocolate. But they're only around until November 1, so hustle on over.
