Mindblowing (Almost) Reveals

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We received two emails about soon-to-open projects; one that made us really excited and then one that made us really excited and left us really impatient. For one, Agent Provocateur on Rodeo Drive is opening early in February -- just in time for Valentine's Day, no doubt. The renderings look precious, and it sounds beautiful: "The concept combines the classic AP boudoir environment with Art Deco Hollywood glamour?a focus on dramatic lighting?baby pink leather?a double staircase leads down fro the entrance to the main boutique?" And the good folks over at Dean Larkin Design shared their vision for the agonizingly-not-quite-open Vivienne Westwood boutique. Though we noticed the wrapping came off over the weekend, it still looks like there's a way to go before the actual building matches the rendering and it's ready to open. Apparently, the building is missing that roof-top apparatus, awnings, and a translucent Corvette to park outside.
