We visited Santa Monica Place on the day before its official opening; part of us was gleeful to be seeing it before anyone else, and part of us was bummed that we couldn't actually go into the stores. Many of the stores in the new center were just adding finishing touches, while there were a few stores that looked like the crews would have to bust ass for the next 20 hours, making sure it would be ready to debut the next day.
The center is pretty magnificent. Tiffany, with the famous robin's egg blue, and marble facade, was maddeningly closed off. We loved the bigger-than-life size crane game at Joe's Jeans. We didn't get to see if Juicy had a comically wackadoodle display; we know they'll be open for business tomorrow, AND Erin Fetherston will be along for the ride (from 2pm to 4pm).
We were also loving the Mannequin Collective. A few representatives graced the indoor portion of the dining deck. Our favorite was Kandy, the mannequin clothed entirely in candy. She wore a bustier made out of red vines.
