Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

It seems like at this time, just two years ago, everyone was all hot and bothered about BAPE coming to town; the store unceremoniously shut its doors earlier this month. Weird, since they just did one of their uber-popular Pirate Stores in June. We got official word that they closed and they may possibly relocate elsewhere, but we're guessing they shuttered for the same reason(s) as at least a dozen other retails in the immediate vicinity (high rent + overall economic malaise). On a happier note, Salsa Jeans is ready to start selling their glute-enhancing jeans to the masses. We were in the neighborhood on Sunday, and the store appears to be 99% ready to open. It's snazzy inside; we're looking forward to taking a tour (you know we'll let you know when we do).
