Did you know that today is National Sunscreen Protection Day? Now you do! Obviously, sun protection is kind of a big deal in this town, so here's a few of our favorite products in case you're in the market for something new for the summer. Real tans are so 1998.
For your face: We recently had the opportunity to try La Roche-Posay, a product line that you can find at CVS. Although their AntHelios SX may sound hoity-toity, it's actually a good basic moisturizer/sunscreen combo. It contains a new, organic sun filter approved by the FDA (apparently the the FDA hasn't approved a new sunscreen formula since the 80's) that protects against short and long UVA rays. It also lasts for 24 hours, just in case you ever take a vacation above the Arctic Circle. ($30)
For your body: When we were given a tube of Neutrogena's Ultrasheer Dry-Touch sunblock, the first thing we noticed was the SPF 85+. Holy crap! This is sunscreen for people who are really flippin' serious about sun protection, and possibly nuclear bomb-flash protection (do not test this at home). We like it because it smells faintly of soap (as opposed to sunscreen) and it actually does go on dry. ($12)
For your hair: Okay, so there's no such thing as hair cancer (RIGHT?!), and sun damage to your hair won't kill you, but still! We've been using Frederic Fekkai's Summer Hair Zero-Humidity Frizz Control for three years now, and you should, too. It keeps hair under control in humid conditions and keeps it from looking older than you are. ($23)
