Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
We just got back from checking out the Creatures of Comfort sale. Holy crap! It's in a small apartment. We're sure it started off well-organized, with fully-stocked racks positioned just so, but it became a madhouse pretty fast. The prices and markdowns are all over the map: Repettos starting around $46, Isabel Marant tees for $82, LD Tuttle shoes for $125, an Acne jacket for $80, Opening Ceremony dresses for $90. They also had a few of those oft-maligned T by Alexander Wang thermal onesies for $35. A small selection of bags (probably gone by now) and lots of jeans, too. Overall, the inventory was a few things that were identifiable from last season, but most were older. (We think it's all the stuff that's been in the sale section of the website?which could be, since there's nothing there now). But wow, say buh-bye to your personal space, because there's none of it. No changing room, and no good place to try on shoes, so be prepared to get people's elbows, purses and asses in your face. Things were getting scooped up pretty quickly, but the staff says they may get another infusion tomorrow.
