Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
On Saturday night, we dropped by Subliminal Projects to check out their latest exhibition, SUBject/subJECT. The show was all women artists, and it was put on to benefit the Downtown Women's Center. There was some really amazing, fun, provocative work by established artists like Liz McGrath, Deedee Cheriel, Jen Stark, and Kime Buzelli; a collage that featured an actual human weave; and a Louis Vuitton doggy-bag that we're guessing is supposed to be some kind of commentary on conspicuous consumption. The show continues through May 8, when it will wrap up with another party. All of the work is available for sale, with 10% of the purchase price donated to the Downtown Women's Center.
