Forever 21 Hits the Westside Pavillion

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

While stores across Los Angeles seem to be shuttering left and right, new outposts of the fast-fashion expert, Forever 21, seem to be popping up every time we turn around. This time, there's a new two-story store at the Westside Pavillion. (Considering the other tenants of the mall—H&M, Hot Topic, Claire's, Express—why hasn't this already happened?) Not only can you find cheap casual clothes for men, women and children, plus a whole slew of accessories, but the store also stocks the somewhat lackluster prom collection. The mannequin here seems to be holding herself with about as much grace as Donna Martin at her prom. We just can't wait to try on those dresses now!

Elsewhere in the store, you'll find swimwear, a wall of shoes, plus cowboy hats for $7.50. Of course, the straw cowboy hats are displayed with denim overalls—very creative! Seriously, we almost pulled a muscle rolling our eyes so hard in this store.

On the other hand, we have to confess: The $2.50 camis and the $9.50 gladiator sandals continue to entice us.
