Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
We're not sure if it's out of service to our readers or masochism that drove us to the Beverly Center to check out the after-Christmas actions, but we dropped in the H&M and found they have a not-insignificant cache of Lanvin on the sales floor. They will probably never run out of those puffy tulle dresses, but in addition, we saw four or five of the pretty multi-colored dresses, a few of the heinous gold ones that look like Mylar balloons gone wrong, and a black jacket we'd never seen before; with frayed edges, architectural details at the shoulders and unfinished hems, it actually looks like real Lanvin! Also, four pairs of shoes were tucked underneath the display behind the Lanvin rack. But probably not for long.
