Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Apparently, we're not the only ones who noticed/got miffed by those seemingly ubiquitous faux-fur, faux-tribal animal head getups: they're at the top of the list as Lina Lecaro counts down the ten big fashion trends in LA. There are a few big "dos" in there, like the flowered dress/boots combo you see all over the city during the warmer months. Our personal "favorite", by which we mean "biggest eyesore", is the hot mess, overly accessorized hipster, which explains why we see so many guys on the East Side wearing horribly colored pants, cowboy boots, track jackets, aggressive sunglasses, and fugly facial hair. Dudes! For us ladies, there's an old adage that goes, 'Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take off one accessory.' In the case of some of these guys, taking off five wouldn't hurt.
