Big, Crazy H&M Opens in Las Vegas

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

When you live in Southern California, Las Vegas is practically the back yard. We may have that mega Forever 21, but they have the world's biggest H&M, which just opened on Saturday at Caesars Palace’s Forum Shops. The 60,000 sq. foot fast-fashion temple looks like Xanadu on an acid trip: multi-colored disco balls, flying mannequins, sparkles and sequins everywhere. The opening night party featured the entertainment of Cher and Lady Gaga look-alikes (really, Las Vegas?), and people getting grabby-grabby with the Lanvin X H&M merchandise. (An informant told us people invited to the pre-opening night party got to shop the collection WITHOUT PIECE LIMITS). The same informant, and a friend who was in town Saturday morning, reported that eager beavers were there, en masse, starting around 6am.
