Besides being Fashion Week, it's also Market Week: which means, for those of you not intimately acquainted with how retail works, designers and reps trot out their wares for stylists, buyers, press types, and Very Important Patrons. It's usually a dull affair.

International Playground owners/curators Virgina Craddock and John Pizzolato decided to tweak the usual formula, and that's what Fun While It Lasted is all about. Together with The Shiny Squirrel, they're putting on a multi-day popup just a few doors down from the store on Mohawk. They've taken over a huge, warehouse like space to serve up a mix of market biz, sample sale action for the general public, music, and a whole lot of fun.

We spent a bit too much time rummaging around the sample sale (sorry for knocking so much stuff over, guys) and found tons of great buys from Blood is the New Black, YARIMAKI, h. fredriksson and Mary Meyer. We also discovered a new fave rave line: Miss Lonelyhearts. Though the line is based in NY, it embodies a completely California aesthetic, like a candy-coated version of Boogie Nights. Curiously, Miss Lonelyhearts was set up right next to Chromat, a line of bare-boned corsety-looking contraptions that reminded us of some of Jean Paul Gaultier's creations for Helen Mirren in The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover.

The popup is in full effect today and tomorrow, with today's entertainment provided by Juliette Commagere, while Saturday features Dr. Sketchy's Anti Art. Opens at 10am both days and the fun goes pretty much all day long.
