Double The Preppy, Double The Generation Gap

Some collaborations just make sense: David Bowie and Queen, Will Ferrell and Steve Carell, cereal and milk. And on Saturday, Steven Alan unveiled his Dockers collaboration at a shindig at his Abbot Kinney outpost. Predictably, the men's looks are a mishmash between hipster cuts and preppy fabrics. There are straight-leg cords and khakis in neutral shades ($128), button-downs ($148), blazers ($248) and skinny ties ($48). While the plaid shirts, green cords, cargo pants and rounded collars make the collection more youthful, the overall feel is still decidedly Dad's Dockers. Which is great for those who have to mix style with an office dress code, less great for those hoping to score a "collaboration" with a typical miniskirt-clad LA lady.
