We Love Art at the Montalban

The Paper Magazine/Converse event at the Montalban Theater was developed for kids—to foster a love of culture and creativity. However, the big-kid to little-kid ratio at the Saturday afternoon open house was about 50 to 1. The party provided hands-on opportunities to draw and paint (the giant color-by-numbers mural was a favorite); dance (courtesy of Sweaty Sunday's Silver Lake maestro Ryan Heffington); make a commercial, complete with real cameras and special effects; and watch a photoshoot. Fun! There was plenty of art on display throughout the theater from folks like Glenn Kaino, Confetti System, and Megan Whitmarsh. Also on hand: lots of candy and beer. Needless to say, a good time was had by all.
