Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Trends for Spring 2010 are reaching way back into classic Americana, and nothing says "urban cowboy" stronger than fringe. Well, maybe fringe with rhinestones, but we don't actually recommend combining those two.
Fringe turned up on the runways of ADAM, Alexander Wang, Christian Siriano, Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Tam and VPL, to name a few. It came in every color, swinging from bags, dresses and shoes. And as can be expected, the trend has trickled down into the furthest depths of retail. (Read: Forever 21 is totally doing it.) In the middle image up there, we've combined some bag examples from Jimmy Choo and Antik Batik, earrings from Forever 21, heeled boots from D&G, a Silence & Noise cami from Urban Outfitters and even a tie-dye dress from Topshop.
Now we want to know what you, our lovely readers, think. Is this a trend you see yourself wearing? Or is this post giving you scary flashbacks to the '80s?
