Last week we went to an event that was seemingly designed to encourage committing a few of the Seven Deadly sins (envy, lust, greed, maybe a bit of gluttony)?but the thing is, it was all in the name of a good cause. Madison & Mulholland kicked off the 2010 awards season with a two-day charity-themed suite. Award nominees and other entertainers and celebs personally created a gift bag to be auctioned off to benefit the charity of their choice. Many of the celebrities donated their bags to Help for Orphans International who are raising money for disaster relief in Haiti.
It was a diverse mix of both people and products: celebs like Joan Collins, Thomas Jane, and Vanessa Williams created bags that included personal effects, like photos or scripts, and goods and giftcards from Verragio Diamonds, Judith Leiber, Dara Ettinger Jewelry, MD Lash Factor, and Shakers Vodka.
We know there are a lot of charities and foundations vying for donations right now, but this is a good one. The bags will be auctioned off on ClothesOffOurBack.org starting January 25. Log on and bid ‘till it hurts, and think of how many you’ll be helping. [Yolanda Evans]
