Frederic's Fred Levine reported that "it's tougher than ever now," while Kitson founder Fraser Ross stated that the intense heat causes people to stay indoors and "scares off tourists". Madison's Mark Goldstein reported that sales last weekend were "soft", yet he remains optimistic, noting “We’ve been through the [Hollywood] writers’ strike and all sorts of things....We are used to living through a lot of negative stuff.” As for Glendale's Americana at Brand, which is one of the closest malls to the blaze?
