New York Fashion Week: Brian Reyes

Our friends over at Racked NY are currently in the thick of New York Fashion Week, and we'll be posting some highlights of their coverage. This time around: sexy cocktail looks from Brian Reyes.

Show location: The Promenade, Bryant Park
The skinny: Sexy in a way that felt new: Lots of fluttery sleeves, vaguely creepy inkblot prints, and shorts. Our photos aren't so hot, so do click over to OnGlamBeauty's video of the final walk.
Celebs spotted: Rachel Bilson was the biggest name, but we hear Becki Newton was also there. Editors came out in force: We saw Carine Roitfeld of French Vogue, plus Joe Zee, Kate Lanphear, and Robbie Myers of Elle.
The takeaway: This is really going to be a dark spring. Reyes managed to keep things breezy, as he always does, but the color scheme and the Rorschach prints didn't exactly remind us of romping barefoot through a field of flowers. These are dresses for city girls, not wood nymphs, and we like it.

11:00am: Alright we're inside the Promenade tent for Brian Reyes, and we feel bad for the press people, who have to stand and hold signs directing everyone to the proper section. Usually it's just a rush in and everyone knows what's up.

11:04am: Looking at the list of looks, we're seeing a lot of Japanese cotton and Japanese jersey.

11:10am: Byrdie Bell is apparently on her way, as overheard by us. Crazy hat lady returns! She must got to as many shows as we do.

11:15am: The Snuggie fashion show is happening at the same time as this! How will people choose?

11:20am: Robbie Myers of Elle is seated front row, and she's gorgeous! Word is that Carine Roitfeld of French Vogue is here somewhere too.

11:30am: Kate Lanphear of Elle just got here. And Rachel Bilson is directly in front of us getting photographed; we are blind.

11:35am: We are thoroughly amused over how an iPhone autocorrects "Carine Roitfeld" as "Caribe Rootfeld."

11:37am: First look is...no pants. Followed by Rorschach test prints.

11:39am Music blaring is hip-hop. Now playing Estelle's "Wait a Minute (Just a Touch)"

11:42am: Seersucker shorts at Reyes! Yay for actual pants.

11:43am: Bralettes shown with the shorts. Almost underwear-inspired. Very lightweight however, so summer appropriate compared to other things we've seen on the runway.

11:45am: And it's over!
