HANCOCK PARK: Think "mid-century" and you probably don't think Hancock Park, but that's exactly the scene of this weekend's Modernist Garage Sale (Southeast corner of 3rd and Rossmore). Held in one of the few mid-century modern estates in that neighborhood, the sale is set to include everything from vintage clothing to books, furniture to art and music, all being sold for "a tiny fraction of what they're worth". The fun starts on Saturday from 9am-5pm, then carries on Sunday from 11am-3pm—Mad Men tribute outfit optional [RackedWire]

EAST HOLLYWOOD:Just up the road in East Hollywood (EaHo?), a block party is brewing for tomorrow. Head to the 4300 block of Melrose Ave for discounts and surprises—think a 10% off sale at Jenette Bras (11am-7pm), 10% off Mykita frames with a prescription lens purchase at Eyetailor (10am-7pm), and an olive oil and wine tasting at Early California Antiques (12pm-5pm, with up to 20% off select items to boot). Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society and Synchronicity Gallery will also be open to visitors. [RackedWire]
