WEST HOLLYWOOD: Just days after feting Chris Benz's fall collection, Beckley in West Hollywood is playing the gracious hostess yet again. This time, the guest of honor is Marnie Greenwood of Marnie Rocks jewelry, who will be showing guests how to transform their broken or outdated jewelry into something far cooler. The tutorial will be happening between 6pm and 8pm tomorrow (Thursday, August 6), at which time all full-priced items and accessories will be 20 % off. [Racked Inbox]
CANADA: The title of Best Thing We've Seen All Day goes to these pastel drawings of The Hills cast members, by Vancouver-based artist Karen Bubas. New York Times writer Joshua David Stein says:
The characters are quarantined on a lonely beige background like G-rated Egon Schieles. But they aren’t islands in their grief. Blended into their pastel tears are our own — for we are all real and vulnerable, even reality stars. In other words: never send to know for whom “The Hills” tolls; it tolls for thee.
Oh, and the pieces are apparently inspired by Edwardian society paintings and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. We have no words. [The Moment]
