Above the Fray: Azzaro and Alaïa Reign at Zainab Sample Sale

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Appointment-only Hollywood boutique Zainab is currently holding a rare sale at a temporary, upstairs location on Melrose Ave. A Racked operative stopped by yesterday, and she reports a solid selection of covetable designers, with prices starting under $20:

Price points range from $15 for 750 shorts, to about $3000 for Azzaro dresses. There are a bunch of Alaïa shoes and ballet flats for about $200 (marked down from about $700) and bags that were $1,000 to $2,000 marked to between $200 and $500. There's a good bit of Margiela, basic tops as low as $45, with some skirts and blouses as well. There are also items by Inhabit, Serial Cultura, Lutz, and Tom Scott. About six rolling racks total of women's ready to wear.

The entrance to the sale is through an alley that runs parallel to Melrose, just opposite Pink's on La Brea. We're told it will be on for about two weeks, at which point we'll have some more exciting news to reveal about the shop (which may or may not have to do with the vacant space downstairs...).
