Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
How we love the smell of leather in the morning! Racked was the first to enter the Junior Drake Warehouse Sale located on East 60th Street today. There’s hundreds of items: small goods like cardholders starting at $5, wallets and clutches $10-$25 and most large totes topping off at $90. The plethora of purses means no one is throwing elbows to score a shoulder bag, and the free and convenient parking starts everyone off in a good mood. We were bummed to hear The Phoebe bag wasn’t in stock, and the Elena and Farrah styles were already running low. But we still grabbed enough goods ($150+) to score the free gift: a large silky printed tote with multiple compartments, which makes for a decent overnight bag. Staff informed us that they’ll replenish some styles as the sale marches on. If you’re in the market for any leather goods – large totes, small make-up pouches, mini-shoulder bags – it’s worth the trip downtown.
