Storecasting: Cooper Design Space Opens Permanent Sale Location

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

As any bargain shopper can attest, the Cooper Design Space's showroom sample sales are generally a must-visit on the last Friday of the month. But soon, it will be even easier to pick through their overstock, with the addition of a permanent retail space just up the road. Named simply The Store, the space will be open to the public every week on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, from 10am-5pm, providing what a press release calls a "more upscale" place for tenants to sell their extra inventory, slightly damaged pieces and samples. Currently, the space contains pieces by Jenny Han, Alexis LaMontagna and Sheri Bodell, although more will be added in the weeks and months to come.

The store officially opens with a launch party on Saturday, August 29 from 5pm-9pm, whereby a special rack of items' proceeds will go towards the New Orleans Musicians' Village. But for those who have made the Cooper building's monthly sales a part of your schedule, fear not—individual showrooms will continue to hold their own events as before.
