MELROSE AVE: As local design talent goes, Jasmin Shokrian has long been one of LA's best-kept secrets (not to mention a Racked favorite). But lately, she's been getting a new burst of attention thanks to a new a diffusion line, Draft No. 17, which is based on "various interpretations of the slipdress". The collection will be celebrated via a trunk show at Creatures of Comfort on Thursday 8/27, from 6pm-9pm (7971 Melrose Ave). Not only will the shop be taking 15% off Draft No. 17 pre-orders and all new fall merch during the event, but the designer will also be on hand to talk you through the special ordering process. WEHO: We can't believe someone hasn't come up with this idea before, but tonight at Jones in WeHo (7205 Santa Monica Blvd.), a group of fashion and entertainment professionals (including Racked and Los Angeles mag contributor Kelly Parsons and publicist Melissa Kubrin) are hosting a casual networking event from 7pm-9:30pm. Says Parsons: "In L.A., fashion and entertainment constantly overlap—neither one would be as glamorous without the other. We want to make those worlds smaller and give those in both industries a chance to see who you speak on the phone but never seem to see."
