Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Our sister site, Curbed LA, has taken a look inside the new and improved Westfield Culver City (formerly known as the Fox Hills Mall), which is scheduled to open on October 9. Retailers joining the mix include Target as an anchor, plus Best Buy, Forever 21, H&M, and a Gold's Gym, yet the blog notes that "more than four" of the new wing's retail spaces are still vacant. The article goes on to say that the budget for the improvements has ballooned to nearly $180 million—over twice the $75 million that was initially quoted back in 2007.
