Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Denim Design Lab's artisinal take on the humble jean is no longer limited to Orange County—the brand made its LA premiere at American Rag's World Denim Bar just a few weeks ago, and our friends there were kind enough to send us some photos of the display. Mirroring the rustic nature of their San Clemente concept shop-slash-museum, Miner49er (which we posted about back in December), both the window display and the in-store merchandising are infused with an old-timey, gold rush feel. The theme makes sense—DDL is known for creating men's jeans inspired by vintage workwear, made from premium selvage denim on antique shuttle looms—and you can glimpse their take on denim history through the rest of the month, before the window installation comes down in early September.
